Flora Fauna

We have endeavored to dedicate a page to each of the major categories of life you might observably encounter on our trails other than the microscopic — which you will surely encounter, though you probably won’t be aware of it. Should our trails ever reach the river, perhaps we will add on a fish sub-category. Although as paleontologist and biologist Stephen Jay Gould once observed, “There is no such thing as fish!” Think about it. Is a jellyfish a fish? Is a lobster a fish? A crayfish is a fish, so why would a lobster not be? Oysters are shellfish too, aren’t they? No? Why not, they have shells and live in water. And what about lungfish?

Anyway, while you try to work that all out, enjoy all of this assembled info courtesy of Erika Lyon and the OSU extension office.
