Indian Rock Park
The latest edition to any complete map of Toronto is Indian Rock Park, a 50 acre parcel of city-owned land just west of Rt 7 and south of Main Street. The property stretches to the power-line easement on the west and as far south as Biltmore Avenue.
The site features its namesake, Indian Rock, a massive sandstone outcrop which has been used as a temprary shelter by natives, early exploreres, and adventuring local kids for centuries. The location features two large stone mounds, a water run-off trough, and a nearby natural spring, making it the ideal spot for our indigineous forebears to hunker down.
The acerage also features an at-least 100-year-old abandoned well which is being converted to a wishing well. Existing trail made from old logging roads is being augmented and added to so that visitors will have well over a mile of trails for hiking and spur routes to visit Indian Rock, the wishing well, and a Pawpaw grove at the south end of the property.
Indian Rock Park will be open to the public as soon as an access route is engineered and constructed.
